The Voerstreek is one of the most beautiful hiking regions in Flanders. The rolling landscape, sunken lanes, forests, and stream valleys make it an ideal hiking area. Via the signposted hiking network, you can follow more than 125 kilometers of hiking trails, with routes for every level. The well-known Bronnenwandeling (Source Walk), named the most beautiful walk in Flanders, is also part of this.
Six signposted hiking routes start directly from the Lo-Ghis accommodation. Thanks to our collaboration with Wandelgids Zuid-Limburg (Hiking Guide South Limburg), you will find clear maps and extra tips for the road. This way you can discover the region in a peaceful and personal way. Simply on foot, from the front door.
Are you as crazy about horse riding as Ghis? Experience the magic of the Voerstreek from the saddle. In collaboration with a local farmer, Ghis offers you the chance to stable your horse in the meadow. Alone or together with Ghis, you can set off for an unforgettable day trip through the Voerstreek. Although the region may not have the vastness for tens of kilometers of galloping, it does offer the perfect setting for ultimate enjoyment.
Looking for the perfect outing for you and your friends, or an unforgettable father-son day? Then come to the De Berg fishing pond, near Lo-Ghis. Here you will find the ultimate fishing spot, nestled in a beautiful and serene environment. Ideal for relaxing together, sharing stories and of course fishing.
If fishing isn’t really your thing but you do enjoy eating fish, you should definitely stop by Commanderie7, the trout farm located right across from Lo-Ghis. An absolute must for every fish lover!
LóLou is an atmospheric café-restaurant in the historic village of Sint-Pieters-Voeren, ideal for a delicious coffee, a piece of Limburg pie, a relaxing lunch or a special beer after a walk through the beautiful Voerstreek.
The tradition of the Aubel market has existed since the 17th century. Every Sunday, this market honors the many fresh and tasty products from Aubel and the surrounding area. Specialties include apple and pear syrup, Herve cheese and Aubel butter. The atmosphere is reason enough to stroll around the Aubel market. You can regularly see music groups performing at the market. And painters are also present in early September.
The old cattle halls of Battice are transformed into an authentic ‘brocante’ (or flea market) every Sunday morning. From art to kitsch, you can find everything here. You can then admire your finds in the accompanying cafes (in themselves worth a visit with their 1950s appearance).
In the mood for shopping and sitting on terraces? Plenty of choice! Maastricht has been voted the most beautiful shopping city in the Netherlands. You will find luxury brands, special boutiques and covered shopping centers. Shopping in Liège is guaranteed fun. Clothing stores, beautiful vintage stores and beautiful decoration stores. And the historic city of Aachen, with its cathedral and beautiful market, offers a diverse range in the many small shopping streets.
